Over the years, I have had the pleasure to work with a variety of
media. For example, I threw pottery on an authentic medieval-era kick wheel; and as a graphic
designer I served up enticing ads, flyers, and business cards to many satisfied customers. I even had
a portrait and caricature stand in Florida!
My hand-drawn illustrations have been featured in various publications,
from the Tampa Tribune, Advertiser Democrat and Autobear Magazine, to the cover of recording artist
Heather Pearson's latest CD, Between Lives. A trompe l'oeil (illusion) mural I painted can be seen in the Occupational
Therapy office of Dareth Law in South Paris, Maine, and my colorful illustrated signage is on display throughout the
Little Jungle Pet Store, also in South Paris.
I am currently working on a series of funny illustrations for a Wisconsin-based
souvenir line called Cheddarheads. Also in the works (because I am a glutton for multi-tasking) is a children's
illustrated picture book that I have written.
I started my own painting company, Stroke of Genius, which specializes in children's room
murals, trompe l'oeil (illusion) murals, decorative and faux finishes, aware that there was a niche that needed to be
filled in Maine. I felt that I can offer my services with the best, most professional quality
around, a unique, distinctive style, and personable & friendly customer care. My mission is to make the beauty
of art available and affordable for every household. Plus, I just plum love to paint. I enjoy the tactile experience
of paint, and it is one of my preferred media. It's both precise and forgiving. And its effect can be loud
and dramatic - or quietly subtle. As you can see, A Stroke of Genius is a reflection of what I love to do most!
I made the move to Maine four years ago, and permanently reside in Greenwood
with my husband, Neil, and Jack Russell terrier, Piwi, "the Incredible Hi-Bouncing Dog". We are in the
process of building an off-grid log cabin on our land here, and enjoying every gulp of fresh air, every drip of
sweat, even every scratch...it all means we're getting, steadily, ever closer to home!
